Record-breaking donation to Mays Business School will enhance opportunities for upcoming students

The Mays Business School at Texas A&M University recently received its largest single donation in history of $25 million from the Mays Family Foundation, founded by Lowry Mays, who is also a graduate of the school. The foundation has been a key supporter of the business school and has helped shape its success in the past and will continue to do so in the future.

The donation will be used for new construction to build a new building that will house expanded graduate programs, support increasing enrollment, and enhance current programs. This will help propel the school to the top of national rankings and further solidify its reputation as a leading business school.

During the announcement, Mays Dean Nate Sharp highlighted the importance of having the best students, staff, faculty, and alumni to move the business school to the top nationally. He expressed excitement about the school’s future and the impact this donation will have on its continued success.

Lowry Mays’ daughter, Kathy Mays Johnson, and her daughter were present to represent the family foundation and received multiple standing ovations. They spoke about Lowry Mays’ deep connection to Texas A&M and how his education at the university shaped his values and ultimately led to his success.

Texas A&M System Chancellor John Sharp and Texas A&M Foundation President Tyson Voelkel also attended the announcement and commended Lowry Mays for his philanthropic support of the business school. They emphasized the importance of philanthropy in building a strong university and creating a brighter future for students, faculty, and the business community.

Overall, the Mays family has now donated a total of $72 million to Texas A&M, further solidifying their commitment to the university and its mission.
