LaDonna L. Phelps, 64, of Newton Falls, passed away on Thursday, Nov. 16, 2023, at her residence. She was born on Jan. 16, 1959, in Elberton, Georgia, to Leon and Lillian Reynolds Garrett. LaDonna graduated from Elbert County High School and later attended Athens Technical School where she earned her nursing degree. She was a Christian and a member of Elberton Church of God, and worked as a nurse for over 30 years, retiring in 2021 from Victoria House.
In her free time, LaDonna enjoyed crocheting, sewing, baking, playing the piano, and painting pictures. She was married to Walter Phelps on April 25, 1995, and is survived by her mother, Lillian of Elberton; husband, Walter; sons, Wesley Davis of Newton Falls and Tyler Phelps of Columbus; daughter, Julie Davis of Newton Falls; brother, Keith (Karen) Garrett of Lavonia, Georgia; sisters, Saronda Worley, Sherry Almond, and Tammie Garrett, all of Elberton; three grandchildren, and three great-grandchildren. LaDonna was preceded in death by her father, Leon.
Calling hours will be held from 5 to 6 p.m. on Tuesday, Nov. 21, 2023, at Bernard P. Borowski Memorial Home in Newton Falls, followed by a service at 6 p.m. The family has requested that donations be made to the ALS Association Northern Ohio chapter at www.als.northern-ohio.
