Renowned Chef Daniel del Prado to Launch New Sports Bar and Restaurant in Minneapolis

Daniel del Prado, a perpetual chef on the move, has announced his next restaurant project called Dexter’s, which will be located at 3717 W. 50th St. in Minneapolis. The team aims to provide an elevated bar experience at this new venture.

Partnering with Carla and Spencer Jones, del Prado met Carla when she was a server at his previous restaurant, Martina in Linden Hills. This partnership is part of the DDP Restaurant Group’s commitment to collaborating with emerging talent in the hospitality industry.

Dexter’s has a “casual yet refined” atmosphere and hopes to attract a range of customers, including neighborhood residents, sports fans, and food enthusiasts. The menu will feature dishes like burgers, BLTs, onion rings, shrimp cocktail, and dry-rub chicken wings. Additionally, there will be more upscale casual options such as potato waffles with caviar and crème fraîche, and a beef tongue pastrami Reuben sandwich.

The beverage program at Dexter’s will be curated by Megan Luedtke, who also oversees the bar programs at other DDP properties like Blondette, Colita, Martina, and Macanda. Renovations are already underway at the former Agra Culture space to transform it into Dexter’s, named after the Jones’ French bulldog.

Daniel del Prado gained recognition as a talented chef during his time at Burch Steak and later opened Martina in 2017, featuring a mix of Italian and Argentine cuisine. He followed up with Colita in 2018 in the Armatage neighborhood, offering a blend of smoked meats and Mexican dishes. Del Prado has since become a prolific restaurateur in the Twin Cities, collaborating with various teams to open multiple establishments including Josefina, Macanda, Cafe Ceres, Cardamom, Rosalia Pizzeria, Blondette, Layline, Flora Room, and Porzana.
