The repair work on the triple reactor of the Olkiluoto nuclear power plant is facing delays, according to The Power of Industry (TVO) message service. The repair, inspection, and testing work is expected to take longer than originally anticipated, with power production of the triple reactor now estimated to start on Tuesday, November 21 at 6 p.m. This is a delay from the previous estimate of production starting on Tuesday at noon, with full production estimated to begin between Tuesday and Wednesday night.
The interruption in the plant’s electricity production occurred on Sunday evening due to a fault in the turbine plant. TVO reported that the cause of the failure was a faulty temperature measurement of the generator’s cooling system, but assured that the event did not affect nuclear safety.
