In Oman, floods have resulted in the deaths of at least 18 people. In the Gulf of Oman, a ship carrying oil capsized in heavy storms, leading to the rescue of 21 Sri Lankan crew members by Iranian emergency services. The Cook Islands-flagged vessel went down approximately 50 kilometers off the southern city of Jask, as reported by the official IRNA news agency.
Mohammad Amin Amani, director of Jask Ports and Maritime Administration, confirmed the rescue of the crew members. He mentioned that a rescue vessel was deployed to the area to save the stranded individuals. Five crew members who required medical attention were treated by Jask emergency services, and their physical condition is reported to be good.
The regions of the Strait of Hormuz, Oman, and the United Arab Emirates have experienced torrential rains since Monday, leading to challenging weather conditions. The rescue of the Sri Lankan crew members highlights the importance of quick and effective emergency response in such situations.
