Klay Thompson, a key player for the Golden State Warriors during their dynasty years, has reportedly agreed to a three-year, $50 million deal with the Dallas Mavericks. This deal includes a player option, meaning Thompson has the choice to opt out after the second year. The agreement is said to involve a multi-team sign-and-trade, which may take some time to finalize.

While the concept of the sign-and-trade is in place, specific details regarding the players involved have not been confirmed. It is rumored that Josh Green may be part of the deal going to the Charlotte Hornets, but the return to the Warriors is still up in the air. The Mavericks were limited to offering three years and $50 million as part of the agreement.

Thompson, who is 34 years old, has been a standout player for the Warriors, contributing significantly to their success with five All-Star appearances and four championships. Known for his exceptional shooting skills, Thompson has consistently showcased his ability to score from beyond the arc. Although he has faced injury setbacks in recent years, including a torn left ACL and ruptured right Achilles, he was able to return and play a crucial role in the Warriors’ title win in 2022.

Despite some decline in performance due to injuries, Thompson remains a top shooter in the league. His accuracy from 3-point range is unmatched by many, with a career percentage of 41.3%. His contributions on the court have been invaluable to his teams over the years, and he continues to rank among the best shooters in NBA history. Off the court, Thompson is known for his laid-back personality and unique hobbies, such as taking his bulldog Rocco to work. His positive presence in the locker room adds to his value as a player.
