Report Shows Two Steps Taken to Mitigate Business Disruption Caused by Data Breach

A new white paper from cybersecurity solutions firm Celerium suggests that proactive leadership and strategic planning are essential in mitigating the business disruption caused by data breaches in healthcare companies. The authors highlight the increasing number of data breaches and the difficult choice executives often face between protecting patient privacy and ensuring business continuity.

One of the key recommendations outlined in the paper is the review or implementation of new IT security policies. These policies should address the conflict between privacy concerns (avoiding regulatory fines and lawsuits) and the potential disruption to a company, patients, partners, and the industry caused by isolation-based containment measures.

Furthermore, the paper suggests advocating for safe-harbor provisions. Regulators and Congress are encouraged to review this complex issue and consider implementing safe-harbor provisions to provide a level of protection for healthcare companies facing data breaches.

The white paper is available for download on the Celerium website, providing valuable insights and guidance for healthcare companies looking to enhance their cybersecurity measures and minimize the impact of data breaches on their operations.
