A fire broke out at the Tesla Science Center at Wardenclyffe in Shoreham, NY on Tuesday, according to Suffolk County police. The call regarding the fire came in at 4:49 p.m. and the building is located at the intersection of Robinson and Tesla Street in East Shoreham. Details were not confirmed by the police at this time.

Residents in the area were saddened by the blaze, as the Tesla Science Center is the location of scientist Nikola Tesla’s last remaining laboratory. Tracey Farrell expressed her devastation, stating that the lab was fully engulfed and that there was a lot of history within the building. The Shoreham Fire Co. #3 was able to confirm that there was a fire, but the extent of the damage had not yet been determined.

Firefighters from nearby departments rushed to the scene to help with the fire, but details about the extent of the damage have not yet been released. This continues to be a developing story and more details will be provided as they become available.
