Heavy rainfall caused significant flooding in Zadar on Tuesday, with 50 liters of rain per square meter falling in just one hour. This is an extraordinary amount of precipitation for this time of year, with the same amount usually falling in an entire month. The downpour led to flooded streets, trapped cars, and multiple interventions by the fire department, primarily related to flooded basements and ground floors of buildings.
Firefighters had to intervene a dozen times, including rescuing drivers stranded in the water. However, the Zadar Police Department did not receive any reports of serious traffic accidents.
