Rhodes College Receives National Science Foundation Grant Courtesy of Congressman Cohen

Congressman Steve Cohen announced today that Rhodes College will be receiving a $502,946 grant from the National Science Foundation. This grant will fund research on the impact of carbon dioxide concentrations on dimorphic fungi. The research will be led by Assistant Professor of Biology Qian Shen and will also involve undergraduate students from LeMoyne-Owen College. The study has the potential to yield important breakthroughs in combatting fungal infections that pose a threat to human life and in reducing crop damage caused by fungal agents.

In a statement, Congressman Cohen expressed his pleasure in seeing this grant awarded to Rhodes College and in witnessing the collaboration between Rhodes and LeMoyne-Owen students on this research project. He congratulated Professor Shen and all those involved in this significant undertaking.
