The Wachusett and St. Paul baseball teams faced off in a doubleheader at Tivnan Field in Worcester, Mass. The teams split the games, with Wachusett edging out St. Paul in the first game with a score of 6-5 after nine innings. Wachusett took an early lead by scoring single runs in the second, third, and fourth innings to go up 3-0, but St. Paul fought back to tie the game with three runs in the bottom of the fourth.
With the game tied, Colon Kreuz delivered an RBI single in the bottom of the seventh, sending the game into extra innings. In the top of the ninth, Caden Lane scored the winning run for Wachusett. Ethan DiVito hit a home run for the Mountaineers, while Nate Roy had a strong performance going 3-4 with three RBI. For the Knights, Kreuz went 3-3 at the plate.
Both starting pitchers, Matt Moreno for Wachusett and Nick Fennucio for St. Paul, delivered solid performances on the mound. The rivalry between Wachusett and St. Paul was on full display as both teams battled hard in a closely contested doubleheader.
