A traffic accident occurred on Sunday at 9:35 a.m. on the A1 highway near Drežnik, Karlovac, according to the Karlovac Police Department. The accident involved a 55-year-old man driving a passenger car with Ogulin license plates and a police vehicle with Zagreb license plates being driven by a 56-year-old man. The accident was caused by the 56-year-old driver’s inappropriate speed in a slight bend, which resulted in a collision with the police vehicle’s rear. Both vehicles were thrown into a metal guardrail in the central belt and then bounced back onto the roadway.
The 55-year-old man sustained serious injuries in the accident, while the 56-year-old driver and a 53-year-old passenger in his vehicle suffered minor injuries. The 56-year-old driver will be issued a mandatory misdemeanor order for causing the accident, and a report will be forwarded to the state attorney.
