The biggest setback for the Jets offense in 2023 was Aaron Rodgers’s torn Achilles, but it was not the only issue they faced. Wide receiver Allen Lazard also struggled, catching only 23 passes for 311 yards. This led to the Jets benching him for poor performance. Despite his lackluster performance, cutting Lazard was not an option due to his contract. As a result, Lazard is back for another year with the team, with head coach Robert Saleh expressing optimism for a rebound in 2024.

Saleh praised Lazard’s renewed mindset and dedication to improving his game during the offseason. He highlighted Lazard’s leadership qualities and positive impact on the team, emphasizing his importance both on and off the field. With new additions like Mike Williams and Malachi Corley on the roster, Lazard’s bounce-back performance is seen as crucial for the Jets’ success in the upcoming season.

Both Williams and Corley have question marks surrounding them, with Williams recovering from a torn ACL and Corley being a rookie. This uncertainty underscores the importance of Lazard returning to form and becoming a reliable target for the Jets in 2024. With high hopes for his performance, Saleh believes that Lazard has the potential to have a standout year and contribute significantly to the team’s success on the field.
