A Roberts Wesleyan University student and her Olympic gold medal-winning coach are set to compete at the Paris Summer Games. Brynn King, a pole vaulter, secured her spot on Team USA by finishing third in the women’s pole vault at the U.S. track and field trials in Oregon. She cleared a personal best of 4.73 meters, earning her a spot on the team.

Reflecting on her achievement, King shared that she was overwhelmed with emotion when she realized she had made the team. Her coach, Jenn Suhr, a former gold medalist herself, has been instrumental in King’s journey. Suhr, who hails from Fredonia, recruited King to train at Roberts Wesleyan University, where she has found a supportive and nurturing environment.

King, a native of The Woodlands, TX, credits Suhr for helping her navigate the nerves and uncertainties of competitive athletics. She plans on returning to Rochester to continue her training before heading to Paris for the Summer Games. This will be King’s first time competing in Paris, and she is excited to represent Team USA on the world stage.
