Golisano Children’s Hospital in Rochester recently introduced a new pediatric behavioral health urgent care center. Known as the Brighter Days Pediatric Mental Health Urgent Care Center, it is the first of its kind in the area for children up to age 18. This new center will be located at 300 Crittenden Blvd and is set to open on July 15th.
Dr. Michael Scharf, the psychiatrist-in-chief at GCH, expressed his excitement about the new facility, stating that there are no other clinics like it outside of the New York City region. The goal of the center is to provide immediate and safe mental health care for children, eliminating the need for emergency room visits and long waits for outpatient services. The focus will be on a family-centered approach to care.
The center will be open for walk-ins from noon to 7 p.m. every day. Staffed by 30 caregivers, the facility will have 15 patient rooms available. The team will consist of mental health counselors, social workers, nurses, psychologists, case managers, and support staff, all working together to provide comprehensive care to young patients.
