Primoz Roglic, a top contender for the Tour de France, emerged victorious in stage six of the Criterium du Dauphine. His impressive performance secured him the race lead as he heads into the final two stages. Roglic, who was involved in a crash on Thursday’s stage five, showcased his strength on the final climb at Le Collet d’Allevard, with his Bora–Hansgrohe team-mate Aleksandr Vlasov playing a significant role in his success.

Despite the crash, Roglic appeared relatively unscathed, unlike fellow Tour de France contender Remco Evenepoel of Soudal Quick-Step who suffered injuries and finished eighth in the stage. This result caused Evenepoel to lose his 33-second lead, putting him 19 seconds behind Roglic. Lidl–Trek’s Giulio Ciccone finished in second place in the stage, while Vlasov crossed the line in third.

The final two stages of the Criterium du Dauphine, serving as a preparation race for the Tour de France, are set to take place on Saturday and Sunday, with the race concluding at Plateau des Glieres. Roglic’s stage six victory positioned him as the leader in the general classification, followed by Evenepoel and Jorgenson of Visma–Lease a Bike.

Roglic’s impressive performance in stage six solidified his position as a top contender for the upcoming Tour de France, set to begin on 29 June. The race promises to be an exciting battle between some of the best cyclists in the world, with riders like Roglic showcasing their form and determination leading up to the prestigious event. Fans can expect intense competition and thrilling performances as the cyclists continue to push themselves to their limits in pursuit of victory.
