Hosts Germany have been training at their base camp in Herzogenaurach to prepare for their last 16 clash against Denmark on Saturday. Defender Antonio Rudiger, who had missed earlier sessions due to a hamstring strain, returned to training on Friday in anticipation of the big game.

Meanwhile, Denmark is facing uncertainty over the fitness of midfielder Christian Eriksen, who did not participate in the team’s pre-match training session. The Danish FA spokesperson mentioned that Eriksen opted for a gym workout instead of joining his teammates on the pitch.

Rudiger’s potential absence was a concern for Germany, especially since fellow centre-back Jonathan Tah is already sidelined due to a yellow card suspension. Despite his injury scare in the previous game against Switzerland, Rudiger completed the match and seemed in high spirits during Friday’s training session.

Nico Schlotterbeck is set to take Tah’s place in central defence for the upcoming match after facing Rudiger in the Champions League final with Borussia Dortmund in June. Both teams are gearing up for what promises to be a thrilling encounter in the knockout stages of Euro 2024.
