Rumors swirling about Houston potentially trading No. 3 pick in 2024 NBA Draft

As the 2024 NBA Draft approaches in three weeks, it’s important to take everything you read or hear with a grain of salt as teams are keeping their plans close to the vest. However, one credible rumor that has surfaced is that the Houston Rockets are interested in trading the No. 3 pick in the draft. Sources mention that the Rockets have discussed a trade with the Grizzlies and are hopeful of convincing the Nets to part ways with Mikal Bridges for the pick. The Rockets are eager to make moves that will help them improve and get out of the lottery phase, making trading the No. 3 pick for more immediate help or future assets a logical choice.

From ownership to management, the Rockets are focused on turning around their losing record and are looking to make strategic moves in the upcoming draft. While trading for Bridges may seem like a good fit, the Nets are adamant about keeping him as they aim to use him as a key piece to attract another star player to their roster. The odds of a trade between the Rockets and the Nets involving Bridges seem slim, given Brooklyn’s intentions for the player.

With several teams rumored to be looking to trade out of the draft, Houston may need to explore other options to execute a trade involving the No. 3 pick. In a draft year where more teams see potential projects than immediate impact players, finding a suitable trade partner may be challenging. While there is a possibility of a team falling in love with a player at No. 3 and initiating a trade on draft night, everything currently circulating is based on speculation and rumors.
