Russell Wilson: My Denver experience didn’t leave me scalded

The Steelers made significant changes on the offensive side of the ball this offseason. They hired offensive coordinator Arthur Smith and acquired quarterbacks Russell Wilson and Justin Fields. Steelers head coach Mike Tomlin stated during an interview last month that all three men were “somewhat scalded” by their 2023 experiences and have something to prove now that they are in Pittsburgh.

Wilson, who spoke to reporters from Steelers OTAs, had a different perspective on his mindset for the 2024 campaign compared to Tomlin. He stated that he wouldn’t say he’s scalded, but rather that he has learned a lot and grown internally from his experiences and challenges. He emphasized using those challenges to become the best version of himself and expressed excitement for the upcoming season.

While Wilson may have a different way of framing the upcoming season than Tomlin, the underlying theme remains the same. His two years in Denver were a setback, and failing to improve with the Steelers this year could hinder his ability to return to his peak performance from his days with the Seahawks. As such, there is plenty for Wilson to prove in the upcoming months, regardless of how he chooses to approach it.
