The Ministry of Justice of the Russian Federation has declared the “Feminist Anti-War Resistance” movement as undesirable in the country. The movement, which was included in the register of foreign and international non-governmental organizations, aims to break the information blockade and spread awareness about the war in Ukraine. Founded by Russian feminists after the invasion of Russian troops in Ukraine, the movement has faced scrutiny from the government.
The activists of Feminist Anti-War Resistance have emphasized the dangers associated with participating in protests under the current circumstances. Following their inclusion in the register of undesirable organizations, the representatives of the movement have sought legal advice to address the situation. In addition to being classified as undesirable, the movement and one of its founders, Daria Serenko, have been labeled as foreign agents by the Ministry of Justice.
Daria Serenko, who was declared a foreign agent in January 2023, has been put on the wanted list by the Russian Ministry of Internal Affairs. Despite being located outside of Russia, it is unclear what specific allegations have been made against her. The movement continues to face challenges from the government as they strive to promote anti-war initiatives and actions.
