The return of college football brings back themed nights at SHI Stadium, and this week, Rutgers football announced the blackout game set for Sept. 27 when Washington visits Piscataway. Presented by Horizon, the game will be televised on FOX at 8 p.m. Fans are encouraged to wear black and come early to witness the pregame light and fireworks show. This will be the first time in the 2024 season that Rutgers players will don their black uniforms and helmets, and fans entering the stadium will receive a Rutgers Blackout t-shirt.

Pregame festivities will feature top food trucks in the state, live entertainment, and giveaways including “Beat Washington” buttons and shakers. Football letter winners and the 2024 Rutgers Athletics Hall of Fame class will be honored during the game. This game marks the first time Rutgers faces Washington in the Big Ten, with the Scarlet Knights currently 0-2 against the Huskies all-time. The last meeting between these two teams was in 2017 when Washington was in the Pac-12.

The only other themed game announced so far is the ‘Community Game’ scheduled for September 7 when Akron comes to SHI Stadium. Get ready to cheer on Rutgers in their quest for their first-ever win against Washington and enjoy the exciting themed nights at SHI Stadium this college football season.
