The new head coach of the Chargers, Jim Harbaugh, has decided to keep the former coach Brandon Staley’s special teams coordinator in place. Ryan Ficken will continue in his role as the Chargers’ special teams coordinator for 2024, as reported by Tom Pelissero of NFL Network.

At 43 years old, Ficken has been in the role of special teams coordinator for the Chargers since 2022. Prior to this, he spent 15 seasons as an assistant coach in Minnesota, where he also served as the Vikings’ special teams coordinator in 2021.

Interestingly, Harbaugh’s special teams coordinator at Michigan was his son, Jay Harbaugh, who is anticipated to take on the role of the Seahawks’ special teams coordinator for the upcoming season.
