Sachin Tendulkar, the Indian cricket legend, praised the Indian cricket team for winning their second ever T20 World Cup title by defeating South Africa in the final at the Kensington Oval. India ended their 13-year wait for a World Cup victory by defeating South Africa by seven runs. Their previous T20 World Cup win was 17 years ago, at the inaugural event. The Indian team has gone through hardships, including their disappointing performance in the 2007 World Cup in the 50-over format.
Tendulkar took to social media to express his joy over India’s win, highlighting the impact of every star added to the Indian cricket jersey on inspiring aspiring young cricketers in the nation. He pointed out the significance of India winning their second T20 World Cup title in the West Indies after their low point in the 2007 ODI World Cup.
Tendulkar, who was part of the 2007 World Cup team, commended current India coach Rahul Dravid for his immense contribution to the T20 World Cup victory. He also acknowledged the contribution of Paras Mhambrey and Vikram Rathour, who made their international debuts in 1996, in guiding the team to success.
The cricket legend also praised India captain Rohit Sharma for his superb captaincy and for motivating the team to bounce back from their loss in the 2023 ODI World Cup. He also lauded players like Jasprit Bumrah and Virat Kohli for their outstanding performances in the tournament. Tendulkar congratulated the entire team, coaches, support staff, and the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) for their collective effort in achieving the T20 World Cup victory.
