SailGP has announced that it will be offering its innovative LiveLineFX technology to other sports properties and broadcast rights owners. LiveLineFX, which produces graphic packages for broadcasts, is operated from a remote studio in London through the Oracle Cloud. This technology can be utilized by sports that take place outside of traditional stadiums, such as cycling, horse racing, and surfing.
The F50 catamarans used in SailGP are equipped with 125 sensors that, along with helicopter vantage points, provide real-time data with up to two centimeters of accuracy in geolocation of the boats, race markers, and boundaries. SailGP has an average of 14 million dedicated broadcast viewers per event. The current season of the Grand Prix is ongoing and has already featured four U.S. stops, with the final two races taking place in New York on June 22-23 and San Francisco on July 13-14.
This new offering of LiveLineFX technology to other sports properties showcases the potential for innovative broadcast solutions in sports outside of traditional stadium settings. With its ability to provide accurate real-time data and engaging graphic packages, LiveLineFX is set to revolutionize the broadcasting of sports events beyond SailGP.
