Saints move Michael Thomas to injured reserve

Head coach Dennis Allen of the Saints has announced that wide receiver Michael Thomas could be out for some time due to a knee injury. It has now been confirmed that Thomas will be on the injured reserve list for at least four weeks. This news comes as a blow for Thomas, who has struggled with injuries over the past three seasons, only playing 10 games during that time. Despite this setback, Thomas has managed to catch 39 passes for 448 yards and a touchdown so far this season.

In response to Thomas’ injury, the Saints have signed cornerback Cameron Dantzler to the 53-man roster from the club’s practice squad. Dantzler has played in two games for the team this season, primarily on special teams. Additionally, the team has brought back Marquez Callaway to the practice squad. Callaway previously spent time with the Broncos during the offseason and training camp under former head coach Sean Payton, but was waived at the start of the regular season. He then signed with the Las Vegas practice squad but was let go in October.

Callaway has a solid track record with the Saints, with 83 catches for 1,069 yards and seven touchdowns in 42 games from 2020 to 2022. Last season, he caught 16 passes for 158 yards and a touchdown in 14 games.
