Salisbury University’s BEACON program solicits input from business owners in economic survey

Salisbury University’s Business Economic and Community Outreach Network (BEACON) is currently conducting its semi-annual Eastern Shore Business Sentiment Survey and is seeking input from local businesses. The survey serves as a way to gauge the economic conditions in the area and to understand the challenges and concerns that business owners are facing. John Hickman, the director of BEACON, emphasized the importance of this data for local leaders in addressing the needs of the local economy.

The survey covers all nine counties on the Eastern Shore and aims to capture a wide range of industries, including hospitality, tourism, and manufacturing. While results are generally uniform across the region, there may be some variations, especially during high tourism seasons on the Lower Shore. Hickman stressed the value of having a comprehensive understanding of the economic landscape in order to provide relevant support and resources to businesses on the Eastern Shore.

Data collection for the survey will close at the end of July, with the results set to be publicly available on the Delmarva Index in mid-August.
