After being ousted as CEO of OpenAI, Sam Altman has joined Microsoft. Altman and Greg Brockman are both joining Microsoft following the chaotic events that unfolded when Altman was removed as CEO of OpenAI.
Microsoft CEO Satya Nadella announced the addition of both Altman and former OpenAI president Greg Brockman to the company’s ranks on Monday. Nadella stated that the company looks forward to providing them with the resources needed for their success.
The company also remains committed to its partnership with OpenAI and looks forward to working with Emmett Shear and OpenAI’s new leadership team. Altman reshared Nadella’s post on the announcement, adding that “The mission continues.”
After the dramatic board decision that led to Altman’s immediate ousting from OpenAI, the board appeared to consider reversing the decision. The board later named former Twitch CEO and co-founder Emmett Shear as interim CEO, replacing Mira Murati, the former CTO.
Representatives for Microsoft have not yet provided a comment regarding the matter; however, a post on X from Brockman reveals the new team at Microsoft, comprising him, Altman, Aleksander Madry, Szymon Sidor, and Jakub Pachocki. He stated that the team planned to “build something new” and “incredible.”
