On Thursday, June 6, the US State Department announced sanctions against a Palestinian terrorist group operating from Nablus. The State Department revealed that the terrorist group is responsible for a series of attacks, including attacks on Israeli vehicles near Nablus and Elon Moreh that injured an Israeli and damaged several vehicles. They also mentioned multiple shelling incidents on the Israeli settlement of Ar-Braha. In September 2022, the Lion’s Den terrorists killed several Palestinian civilians during clashes with Palestinian Authority security forces. Additionally, in April 2024, Palestinian media reported an attack by the group on Israeli soldiers at a checkpoint near Nablus.

The State Department condemned all acts of violence in the West Bank, regardless of the perpetrators, and stated that they would use all available tools to hold accountable those who threaten peace and stability. This strong stance against terrorism is part of the US government’s efforts to combat global terrorism and promote peace in the region.

Despite the challenging situation in the Middle East, the US remains committed to supporting efforts for a peaceful resolution to the conflict. By imposing sanctions on terrorist groups and holding them accountable for their actions, the US aims to create a safer and more stable environment for all residents of the region. Through diplomatic channels and partnerships with regional allies, the US continues to work towards achieving lasting peace and security in the Middle East.
