Sarah Becker, a cast member from “The Real World: Miami,” tragically died by suicide last week at her home in Illinois. The 56-year-old reality TV personality had been struggling with mental health issues, according to a family member who spoke to TMZ. Originally from California, Becker had moved to the Midwest to take care of her sick mother and sister, but had plans to return to the West Coast.
Becker’s situation was made worse by a skateboarding accident she had recently experienced. During her time on the fifth season of MTV’s “The Real World,” she was known for being a comic book enthusiast and worked at Wildstorm Productions. She also adopted a puppy during filming and described herself as feeling much younger than her age.
Following the news of her passing, several of Becker’s former castmates shared their condolences on social media. Cynthia Roberts posted a photo of Becker with the caption “RIP Roomy,” expressing her hope that Becker had found happiness beyond this life. Den Renzi, another cast member, reflected on the unique bond they shared from their time on the show.
Joe Patane, a licensed clinical social worker, also chimed in on Twitter to acknowledge Becker’s dedication to helping others through therapy. He emphasized that suicide should never be a choice, but hoped that Becker had found peace. Finally, Flora Alekseyeva remembered Becker as a kind and selfless person, expressing shock at the news of her passing and sending her well-wishes to Becker in her afterlife.
