Former Wolves goalkeeper Matija Sarkic passed away at the age of 26. He joined Wolves from Aston Villa in July 2020 but left to join Millwall last summer. During his time at Molineux, he played for both the under-21s and the first-team, making three senior appearances during the 2022-23 season. Sarkic also played in several games in the Carabao Cup and FA Cup.
Wolves’ Sporting Director Matt Hobbs expressed deep sadness at the news of Sarkic’s passing. He described Sarkic as a wonderful goalkeeper who was loved by everyone at the club. Hobbs noted that Sarkic was not only talented on the field but also a kind and friendly person off the field. He had a positive attitude and was always smiling, making him popular with all staff at Compton.
Sarkic’s sudden death has come as a shock to everyone who knew him well. His presence will be deeply missed, and it is difficult for those who knew him to accept that he is no longer with us. The loss of such a talented and well-liked individual has left a lasting impact on the Wolves community.
