Chase Claypool, a former second-round pick of the Steelers in 2020, is currently a free agent and has not been signed during the current signing cycle. This has drawn interest from the Saskatchewan Roughriders of the CFL, who have added Claypool to their exclusive negotiating list. While this doesn’t necessarily mean Claypool is heading to Canada, the Roughriders have the first opportunity to sign him if he chooses to join the CFL.

Claypool had a promising start to his career, scoring 11 total touchdowns and amassing 873 receiving yards as a rookie. However, his production declined in his second season, and he was eventually traded by the Steelers to the Bears for a second-round pick. After a brief stint with the Dolphins, he has struggled to find a new team in the NFL.

Despite his early success, Claypool’s football fortunes have taken a negative turn in the last two seasons. It remains to be seen if he will get another opportunity in the NFL after the draft or if he will have to wait for injuries to occur for a chance to showcase his talent once again.
