The Super 8 stage of the 2024 T20 World Cup is about to begin on June 19, with seven out of the eight teams already confirmed. India will be facing off against Australia on June 24 in a rematch of the 2023 World Cup Final. Team India secured their spot in the Super 8 by finishing at the top of Group A, winning three matches and having one game affected by rain. Bangladesh is likely to be the eighth team in the Super 8, with Netherlands having an outside chance of making it.
During the Super 8 stage, India will be moving from the USA to the West Indies. All three of India’s matches will be held in the Caribbean. The first match for India in the Super 8 stage will be against Afghanistan on June 20. The Super 8 format consists of two groups that were determined by a seeding system based on the top 8 teams before the tournament. However, due to the elimination of Pakistan, New Zealand, and Sri Lanka, their seeding spots will be filled by USA, Afghanistan, and Bangladesh/Netherlands.
The top two teams from each Super 8 group will advance to the semi-finals. In Group 1, India is joined by Australia, Afghanistan, and Bangladesh/Netherlands. In Group 2, USA, England, West Indies, and South Africa will be competing. India’s schedule for the Super 8 stage includes matches against Afghanistan on June 20 at Kensington Oval, Barbados, Bangladesh/Netherlands on June 22 at Sir Vivian Richards Stadium, Antigua, and Australia on June 24 at Daren Sammy Cricket Ground, St. Lucia.
