The South Bass Island Lighthouse and Gibraltar Island will be open to the public for tours and events this summer. Ohio Sea Grant and Stone Lab are hosting Put-In-Bay Science Days, offering free events on Fridays and Saturdays from June to July 27th. Visitors can explore the grounds of the South Bass Island Lighthouse and learn about Lake Erie’s ecosystem and wildlife from Stone Lab experts.
At the lighthouse, experts will showcase live fish and wildlife each week, covering topics related to Lake Erie and ecosystem protection. Tours of Gibraltar Island, including Perry’s Lookout and Cooke Castle, will also be available on Thursdays from June 13 to August 15. Tickets for the tours are $12 for adults and $6 for children, with additional cash needed for transportation.
The South Bass Island Lighthouse grounds are open to the public from dawn to dusk, with guided tours on Fridays and Saturdays through July 27th.
