Science Research Symposium hosted by GCHS

Garden City High School recently honored the accomplishments of its science research students at the annual Science Research Symposium. The event, which took place on May 29, included presentations, awards, and guest speakers to celebrate the students’ exceptional achievements.

The evening kicked off with a Student Poster Reception held in the high school library, where attendees had the opportunity to view the students’ research projects while enjoying refreshments. Dr. Steven Gordon introduced the guest speaker, Dr. Ramana V. Davuluri, a professor at Stony Brook University, who delivered a talk on the role of artificial intelligence in biomedical research.

Some of the highlights of the awards presented at the symposium included James Nagler receiving the First-Place Grand Award at the Long Island Science & Engineering Fair, Mannat V. Jain earning the Second-Place Grand Award at the same fair, Amy Hong Xiao winning the First-Place Grand Award in biochemistry at the New York State Science & Engineering Fair, and more.

In addition, a group of students from Garden City Middle School, Anjali Motwani and Tanya Oza, were recognized as winners of the Student Spaceflight Experiments Program. The school district expressed gratitude to the Garden City Friends of STEAM for their generous funding and contributions that made the event possible.
