Touchdown Wire’s Jarrett Bailey recently ranked the top head coaches in the NFL, starting from 32nd (last) to first. Among his top three coaches are Andy Reid, Sean McVay, and Mike Tomlin, while Jerod Mayo, Matt Eburflus, and Dennis Allen are at the bottom of the list. In the middle, at 16th place, is Denver Broncos head coach Sean Payton. Despite Payton’s past success with a Super Bowl win, Bailey believes that the Broncos may struggle under his leadership in the upcoming season due to factors like quarterback Bo Nix.
Bailey points out that Payton had several seven and eight-win seasons even with a legendary quarterback like Drew Brees, suggesting that Payton’s coaching abilities may not be as effective as they once were. However, the Broncos have shown faith in Payton by signing him to a five-year deal, indicating their commitment to giving him the time and resources needed to turn the team around. It remains to be seen whether Payton can lead the Broncos to success with Nix as his quarterback in the upcoming season.
Only time will tell if Bailey’s predictions hold true. Payton’s tenure with the Broncos will be a test of his coaching abilities and whether he can adapt to the challenges of rebuilding a team. To read more of Bailey’s NFL coach rankings, you can visit Touchdown Wire.
