Laviska Shenault Jr. is making a fresh start with a new team after spending two years in Carolina. The veteran receiver and former second-round pick has signed with the Seattle Seahawks, as reported by his agent via CBS Sports lead NFL insider Jonathan Jones. Shenault, who is 25 years old, joins Seattle after a disappointing two-year stint in Carolina. His performance was solid during his rookie year with the Jacksonville Jaguars, where he caught five touchdowns and accumulated 600 yards. However, his production declined over the following seasons, with just one additional touchdown in three years. Last season was particularly challenging for Shenault, as he only played in eight games without a single start.

At 6-foot-1 and 220 pounds, Shenault was the 42nd overall pick in the 2020 NFL Draft. He had a successful sophomore season at Colorado, catching 86 passes for 1,011 yards and six touchdowns. However, a knee injury affected his junior season, but he chose to enter the NFL Draft despite the setback. Shenault will now be part of a Seahawks receiving group that includes DK Metcalf, Tyler Lockett, and Jaxon Smith-Njigba. With the potential for new offensive coordinator Ryan Grubb to utilize Shenault creatively, there is an opportunity for him to contribute uniquely to the Seattle offense.

Correction: A previous version of this article incorrectly stated the team Shenault was joining. The story has been updated to reflect accurate reporting, indicating that Shenault has signed with the Seattle Seahawks.
