Second Apartment Building for UVM Health Network Employees Now Open

The UVM Health Network, a major employer in the region, is addressing the housing shortage by opening its second apartment building for employees. Located near Trader Joe’s in South Burlington, this new building offers 120 units, while the first building on Market Street has 61 units. Two-thirds of the units are available to new employees looking to relocate to Vermont, where home prices have seen a significant increase.

Jerald Novak, UVM’s chief people officer, expressed the importance of providing housing options for employees to ensure they can accept job offers without worries about finding a place to live. This initiative has proven successful in attracting new employees to the network.

With a total investment of $9 million in employee housing, the UVM Health Network is committed to supporting its workforce. The new building will also feature a child care center, scheduled to open in the fall. This demonstrates the network’s dedication to creating a supportive environment for its employees and their families.
