In a thrilling conclusion to the Super Eight stage of the T20 World Cup, Afghanistan secured the final spot in the semi-finals by defeating Bangladesh in a close match. This victory resulted in Australia being knocked out of the tournament. The four semi-finalists have now been confirmed, with Group 2 leaders South Africa set to face Afghanistan in the first semi-final, while Group 1 toppers India will take on England in the second semi-final.

The first semi-final between South Africa and Afghanistan is scheduled to start at 8.30pm local time on Wednesday, June 26, at the Brian Lara Stadium in Tarouba. The second semi-final between India and England will be held at 10.30am local time on Thursday, June 27 at Guyana’s Providence Stadium. India’s semi-final match will take place at 8pm India time on June 27.

The playing conditions for the two semi-finals differ. While the first semi-final will have a reserve day with additional playing time allocated, the second semi-final will not have a reserve day. Both semi-finals require a minimum of 10 overs per innings to constitute a complete match, unlike the rest of the tournament which requires only five overs per innings.

Given the forecast for rain at both venues, the possibility of matches being affected by weather is real. In the event of a washout, the team that placed higher in their respective Super Eight groups (India and South Africa) will advance. If the final is abandoned due to poor weather, the two finalists will be declared joint winners. Fans can stay updated on the latest developments by downloading the official app.
