Seventy Percent of Voters Believe Biden Lacks Cognitive Health to Serve

Additionally, 49% of voters questioned whether Donald Trump has the mental or cognitive ability to serve as president again.

The debate showcased some of these concerns, with Biden’s raspy voice, stumbling responses, and overall performance raising doubts about his capability to lead. The latest poll results have led to speculation about whether Biden should consider withdrawing from the 2024 presidential race and allowing another Democratic candidate to step in. Despite calls for him to step aside, Biden has expressed his intention to continue running for office, with support from some Democratic leaders such as Nancy Pelosi and John Fetterman.

However, the survey released by CBS/YouGov indicates that Democratic voters are increasingly questioning whether Biden is the right candidate for 2024. Concerns about his age, decision-making abilities, and campaign effectiveness were cited as reasons why some believe he should step aside. The poll, based on a sample of 1,130 registered voters, has a margin of error of +/- 4.2 percentage points, suggesting a significant shift in public opinion regarding both Biden and Trump’s suitability for the presidency.
