The Division III State Athletics Championships field has been set, with at least five area individuals and one relay team making the cut after surviving two levels of postseason activity. The competition will be held at The Ohio State University’s Jesse Owens Memorial next Friday.

Shadyside was the district runner-up with 37 points, achieved mostly from the two hurdle competition thanks to Brothers Booth. Dylan Booth, the junior, had an impressive performance for the second week in a row, jumping the 10 hurdles with a personal best of 14.78 to win the regional title at the high hurdles. Meanwhile, his twin brother Nathan finished third with a score of 14.85.

The Shadyside 4×4 team, consisting of Booth, Isaac Green, Booth, and Cooper Chimley, finished fourth with a time of 3:30.25. Chimley, another Shadyside senior, will compete in the state 400 meters after he clocked 50.26 seconds to take the silver medal.

Belaire junior Maison Socheol also made the cut for the state tournament with a high 110 hurdle, finishing second with his best time of the season, 14.83 seconds. On the other hand, the only area girl in Division III to continue training this week is Alison Bingia, a Berea freshman and talented discus thrower who emerged as the bronze medalist.

Gwynne Lori from Caldwell won the regional title in the discus throw event with a record of 126-2.
