Sharks’ villain Perry sets impressive Stanley Cup Final record

Corey Perry, a long-time Sharks villain, has achieved an impressive Stanley Cup Final record by becoming the first player in NHL history to reach the championship round with five different teams. In his 20th season, Perry will be making his fifth Stanley Cup Final appearance after the Edmonton Oilers advanced past the Dallas Stars in the Western Conference finals.

Perry, a four-time All-Star and winner of the 2010-11 Hart Memorial Trophy, has previously made it to the Stanley Cup Final with the Anaheim Ducks, Dallas Stars, Montreal Canadiens, and Tampa Bay Lightning. Now with the Edmonton Oilers, Perry continues to add to his legacy.

During his time with the Anaheim Ducks, Perry became a notorious rival of the San Jose Sharks. The intense rivalry between the two teams often saw Perry accumulating penalty minutes while also racking up goals and assists. His history with the Sharks includes controversial hits, penalty minutes, goals, and assists.

Throughout his career, Perry has amassed 94 penalty minutes, 28 goals, and 26 assists in 75 games against San Jose. His points and penalty minutes against the Sharks rank among the highest in the league, trailing only behind his stats against the Utah Hockey Club.

As the Edmonton Oilers gear up to face the Florida Panthers in the Stanley Cup Final, San Jose fans now have a team to root for and against. Thanks to Perry’s arrival in the championship round, the emotions toward the Oilers will undoubtedly be mixed among Sharks fans.
