Truman McNitt, an 11-year-old with a passion for sweets and an entrepreneurial mindset, has recently gained statewide recognition as the youngest finalist in a Junior Achievement Young Entrepreneur Competition. His journey began when his mom bought a cotton candy maker for their own enjoyment. This sparked an idea in McNitt’s mind that led him to start a business selling a variety of cotton candy, live-spinning it at events, and naming his venture Sugar Twist Trinkets.

McNitt shared that owning a business at his age comes with significant responsibilities. His mother, Caitlin Brotz-McNitt, expressed pride in his initiative and dedication. Together, they work on the business, exchanging ideas, sharing stories, and having fun. They also showcase McNitt’s products at his mother’s store, OlivΓΌ, located in downtown Sheboygan. Apart from cotton candy, McNitt also sells toy slime and freeze-dried candy, which he explained transforms the texture of candy into something lighter and crispier.

Known as a go-to expert for all things candy, McNitt enjoys sampling various products. He mentioned his love for operating the cotton candy machine and making himself a delicious treat whenever he wants. He sells his products both in-store and online, catering to customers who share his love for sweet treats.
