Shooting at Howell business leaves 1 dead, 1 in custody

Officers from the Howell Police Department responded to a complaint of threats made at a local business on the 100 block of W Grand River Ave. shortly before 5:30 p.m. on Friday. Upon arriving at the scene, officers discovered a man who had been shot inside the building. They took one individual into custody.

The Howell Police Department issued a statement emphasizing that there is no current threat to the public. The incident did not occur near the Balloonfest event and is not connected to it in any way. It was described as an isolated incident, and all individuals involved are cooperating with the investigation. The police department asked that the public avoid responding to the scene to allow investigators to conduct their work.
