The Sixers have added Paul George as their third star after he agreed to sign a four-year, $212 million deal with the team, according to a source on NBC Sports Philadelphia. George, a native of Palmdale, California, has spent the past five seasons playing in Los Angeles. This move marks his return to the Eastern Conference for the first time since the 2016-17 season with the Indiana Pacers.

The decision by George to join the Sixers came after the Clippers declined to offer him the four-year contract he desired. With a significant gap in negotiations between George and the Clippers, the door opened for Philadelphia and president of basketball operations Daryl Morey to make a move. Morey had entered the offseason with little roster certainty but significant cap space.

Last season, George earned his ninth career All-Star Game appearance. The addition of George to the Sixers’ roster fills a need for a high-level wing player who can perform well in the playoffs. With his scoring ability, defensive prowess, and experience playing alongside other stars, George brings valuable skills to Philadelphia.

The Sixers will be looking to George, alongside Joel Embiid and Tyrese Maxey, to lead the team to success in the upcoming season. George’s move to the Eastern Conference is a strategic one that both he and the Sixers hope will lead to a breakthrough in the playoffs. In addition to George, the Sixers have also added Kelly Oubre Jr., Andre Drummond, and Eric Gordon to their roster as they continue to build a competitive team around their star players.
