SLU Acknowledges St. John Parish Nursing and Health Sciences Scholars – L’Observateur

St. John Parish Nursing and Health Sciences Students were recently recognized by Southeastern Louisiana University School of Nursing and Health Sciences. The highest honor, the Dean’s Award, was awarded to three students during the annual convocation on May 4. The Dean’s Award for Health and Human Sciences went to Ms. Gracie Schilling from the United States prairie building. The Dean’s Award for Kinesiology and Health Research was awarded to Erin Wilkes of Independence, and the Dean’s Award for Nursing went to Denham Springs’ Bethany Frause.

In addition to these awards, faculty members presented the Significant Partnership Award to individuals who contributed to the university’s educational programs. The Department of Health and Human Sciences honored Site supervisor and Southeastern Social Work Advisory Board member Matthew Johnson, while Brigitte Bailey, Community Development Director of Tanguipahoa – Rebuilding Attitudes for Community Transformation, received recognition from the Kinesiology and Health Research Office. The School of Nursing also honored Michelle Chiado of Mandeville Child Emergency Care.

Among the recipients of individual awards was Nicole Derdinger of Laplace, who received the Outstanding Exercise Science Graduate Award. Ann Carruth, Dean of her College of Nursing and Health Sciences, congratulated her.

Overall, these awards recognize the hard work and dedication of students and individuals in supporting the educational programs at Southeastern Louisiana University.
