Choosing technology for green transformation can be challenging for small businesses with limited financial resources. Experts emphasize the importance of following a roadmap and investing in key areas to ensure success. At the International Innovative Business Forum (IIBF) organized by the High Quality Vietnamese Goods Business Association in Ho Chi Minh City, experts and businesses discussed the importance of applying new technology to address business issues.
Mr. Bui Van Trinh, Deputy General Director of consulting company Deloitte, highlighted the strict green criteria imposed by major export markets like the US, China, and Europe. Vietnamese businesses are compelled to adopt transformation technology to meet these requirements and maintain their export markets. However, selecting the right technology remains a challenge for small-scale businesses due to limited resources. Research and evaluation of technology is crucial for making successful transformations, according to Mr. Trinh.
Businesses are advised to develop clear business and digital transformation strategies with a step-by-step roadmap. It is important to set clear goals for the selected technology, understanding the benefits it will bring and for how long. Mr. Trinh emphasized that quality technology may come at a cost, but it is essential for businesses to align technology with their goals and objectives.
Moreover, Mr. Tran Duy Khiem, Director of Becamex IOC Smart Operations Center, emphasized the need for green certificates in Vietnam’s major export markets. To support businesses in achieving green goals, Becamex has invested in developing green, smart industrial parks. The establishment of an Operations Center (IOC) allows for the operation, administration, and supervision of activities within the industrial park. Connecting infrastructure and data through technology is essential for effective management and monitoring.
Digital transformation and green transformation are driven by customer requirements, as pointed out by Mr. Tran Bang Viet, CEO of Dong A Solutions. Businesses should prioritize the implementation stage of their conversion plan, choosing cost-effective technology that aligns with existing personnel skills. This approach helps businesses build understanding of technology, form partnerships with suppliers, and prepare personnel for future steps in the transformation process.
Minister of Science and Technology Huynh Thanh Dat stressed the importance of technological capacity for businesses to stay competitive and meet customer demands. Collaboration between the High Quality Vietnamese Goods Business Association and the Ministry of Science and Technology is vital for supporting businesses in adopting new technological trends and innovations. The advancement towards green production, energy efficiency, and reduction of greenhouse emissions through technological innovation is crucial for businesses to thrive in a changing market environment.
