Today’s two-sol plan for Curiosity closely resembles what had been scheduled for the weekend. The rover continues to study the dark and light sections of the veins at “Garden City.” This includes using MAHLI and APXS instruments on the veins, as well as conducting ChemCam and Mastcam observations to analyze potential variations in chemistry. In addition to these scientific tasks, Curiosity will also carry out environmental monitoring activities to track atmospheric composition, opacity, and to look for signs of dust devils.
Despite some setbacks with the weekend plan, the initial images received from the site have revealed that the outcrop is a complex and intriguing area that warrants further investigation. The team remains optimistic about the potential discoveries that lie ahead as Curiosity continues its exploration of Mars.
