The former Scotland and Liverpool captain spoke to BBC Radio 5 Live Breakfast about the disappointing performance of the team, observing that none of the players seemed satisfied with their individual performances.
Souness expressed his disappointment with Scotland’s lackluster showing against Germany and questioned their game plan. He emphasized the importance of minimizing the goal margin in defeat and suggested that the players would be feeling disappointed with themselves after such a poor performance. The scale of the defeat against Germany will make it more challenging for Scotland to advance from their group, particularly if goal difference becomes a deciding factor.
The former footballer highlighted the tough challenge that Scotland faces in their group, noting that Switzerland and Hungary are both in good form. Switzerland has only lost one of their last 14 matches, while Hungary has lost just one of their last 16 games. Souness warned that Scotland will need to significantly improve their performance in their next two group games against these formidable opponents.
