South Bend Cubs and Beacon Health Systems recently came together to host Cancer Survivor Night, a special event to honor cancer survivors and current cancer patients. Among those recognized was cancer survivor Lori Isack, who had the privilege of throwing the first pitch at the game. Lori shared her story of life after cancer treatment in a previous interview with WSBT 22, emphasizing the importance of living life to the fullest after facing such a challenging illness.

During the game, South Bend Cubs players donned purple and white jerseys that were put up for auction. The highest bidder had the opportunity to honor a cancer survivor or someone who lost their battle with cancer by having their name displayed on the back of the jersey. This unique tribute served as a reminder that cancer impacts everyone in some way, and that it is crucial to support those who have been affected by the disease.

Lori Isack, like many other cancer survivors, believes that cancer does not have to be a death sentence. By raising awareness and providing support to those going through treatment, individuals can learn to live with cancer and continue leading fulfilling lives. The proceeds from the auctioned jerseys will be donated to Beacon Cancer Care patients, offering much-needed assistance to those navigating the challenges of a cancer diagnosis.
