The Colorado Springs Rocket Society (COS Rocket Society) is facing a setback after a trailer filled with their equipment was stolen, resulting in a loss of $10,000. The theft occurred on May 26th at the Challenger Learning Center when a dark SUV was seen hauling the trailer away at around 11:33 am.
Among the stolen items were a control panel, fire extinguishers, and a launcher capable of sending 30 model rockets airborne simultaneously. Despite this unfortunate incident, the COS Rocket Society remains dedicated to their mission of using model rocket launches to educate others about physics, aerodynamics, and other science concepts.
For the past 30 years, the organization has been providing hands-on STEM education to schools, churches, and scouting clubs. Despite the financial setback, President Dave Virgo remains optimistic and determined to continue their work. He expressed confidence in their ability to overcome this challenge and urged the community to support them in any way they can.
The COS Rocket Society is seeking information about the whereabouts of their stolen equipment and welcomes donations to help recover from the loss. Those interested in supporting their cause can visit their webpage for more information. Copyright 2024 KKTV. All rights reserved.
